Scott Wilson provides studies, development, engineering and project management services for power, process and infrastructure projects. Our involvement in power is long established; services have been provided in some eighty countries, over five decades.

Our expertise covers the whole range of power sector projects including; thermal, hydro, renewable energy, and transmission and distribution systems.

In the thermal sector, services have been provided in the development, implementation, operation and maintenance of thermal power generation plants. This experience covers a wide variety of power generation plant types including: oil, gas and coal fired conventional steam turbine plants, combined cycle gas turbine plants (CCGT), open cycle gas turbine plants, power/desalination plants, oil and gas fuelled reciprocating engine generating plants and cogeneration plants.

Geotechnical engineering has been an important part of Scott Wilson’s operations throughout the world since the foundation of the company. A thorough understanding of the geotechnical issues is fundamental to the success of the majority of civil, structural, transportation and environmental projects.

Our geotechnical specialists provide a service to other sections of the firm and we undertake direct geotechnical commissions for organisations within both the public and private sector. Several staff have served on specialist committees, and close relationships are maintained with research organisations and universities, and personnel frequently contribute to the development of publications by the Institution of Civil Engineers, the British Standards Institution and the Construction Industry Research and Information Association.

Our work has included piling of all types, spread foundations, retaining walls, earthworks, reinforced soil, ground improvement, remediation of contaminated land and specialist geotechnical techniques.
