Meet Our People

Katie Sutton – Service Improvement Manager/BACS Team Manager

I started with RBS Invoice Finance in August 2001 as a Data Entry Clerk in the Control Department within Client Services. I was in this role for 10 months and whilst I was there I was given the opportunity to be seconded to the new Take On Team for 3 months.

When I went back to Control from the secondment I realised that I wanted to learn more about the company and stretch myself further and so I successfully applied to become a Sales Ledger Officer. This was a big step for me as the job was a lot harder and I had an intense 12 weeks training schedule to complete. I really enjoyed this role as it gave me the opportunity to meet people from other parts of the business and to interact with clients on a regular basis.

While in Ledger Services I was asked if I would like to join the Export Team so that I could deal with the Major Accounts. This was a great opportunity as the Major Accounts were a big challenge and while working in this team I learnt more about our Collections Department.

In May 2005 I decided that I was ready to take the next step and was successful in applying for a Team Manager role in the Bacs Department. This role took me completely out of my comfort zone and I had a lot of new challenges and a lot to prove. Hard work and determination paid off and within two and a half years I had become a fully experienced Team Manager who was then coaching and supporting new Team Managers into their roles.

This year I was ready for my next challenge and I successfully gained a promotion into the Service Improvement Manager role.

When I look back at my career within RBS Invoice Finance I believe that I have managed to do so much in six years due to the enthusiasm and hard work that I have put into each role. The group can open so many doors for everyone who wants to develop; you just need to grab the opportunities with both hands. If you show you have the right attitude to succeed you can go a long way.
