David Vines - Commercial Relationship Manager, EA & NHC

When I joined RBS in early 2001, I was 19 years old and knew little about banking or Invoice Finance. I first started in a clerical role, dealing with back office functions and support. It soon became apparent to me that working in company the size of RBS Group held many more opportunities and career paths then I was used too, having previously only worked for small businesses.

It didn’t take long to move up, and I soon progressed through various back office clerical and support roles, moving onto an Assistant Relationship Manager role in the front office (client facing) in late 2004. I was promoted to a Retail Relationship Manager in late 2005, and finally on to a Commercial Relationship Manager in July 2007.

RBS has excellent learning resources, and by using your personal development plan, you can develop your competences to match where you want to go, and develop as fast or slow as you like. They have certainly helped me over the years, I have to date completed courses through RBS on Intermediate Excel, Account Management, Fraud and Loss Prevention, Legal Aspects of Receivables Financing, my FDA (now ABFA) Foundation and Certificate courses, and I am now looking forward to starting my Diploma.

I have found that my toughest years at RBS have also been my most rewarding, and I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead!!
