Meet Our Team

Libby Doughty – Head of UK Operating Centre and Money Market Operations

Following the successful completion of her degree at Leeds University, Libby worked in Advertising before travelling and embarking on her career in Banking & Finance, initially focusing on Equity Derivatives with Deutsche Bank in London. Taking a break to work as a Scuba Diving Instructor in the Cayman Islands, she then returned to Investment Banking to further her career in Derivatives as a Vice President at Goldman Sachs in London. In early 2006, she moved to RBS for a new challenge, and to broaden her experience by heading up the MoneyMarket Operations and UK Operating Centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Libby is currently in the process of transforming the centre not only to continue its more traditional Treasury Reserve activity, but also incorporating the variety of back office functions for GBM Operations. By centralising support teams in areas outside London and realising the advantage of the highly skilled and highly motivated people based away from the capital, RBS retains a high-profile presence for its UK-based customers.

RBS was an obvious move for Libby, as it has allowed her to take up a very different challenge, not only from a product perspective, but also by heading up the outsourcing by the GBM business of its Operational functions to its Newcastle-under-Lyme office. RBS has allowed Libby to develop and hone her leadership skills, encouraging her to operate outside of her normal comfort zone and enabled her to achieve challenges by thriving in an environment that rewards performance, which she has found both attractive and motivating.

Sue Wylie – Operations Manager

Joined NatWest in 1988, initially in branch banking, before moving into Regional Training where she worked alongside various regional functions, presenting both procedural and competency based courses, as well as one on one training across the Retail network.

In 1992, Sue was involved in the initial setup of the Treasury Reserve Centre, subsequently to become the UK Operating Centre, from a training perspective. Following various roles within the Centre, she was appointed to the management team in 1999, where she was initially responsible for Information & Financial Reporting. This role worked directly with Electronic Banking in Harrogate and Financial Markets to deliver business continuity plans and effective business performance.

After the RBS takeover of NatWest, and Sue's subsequent promotion to manage the Treasury Reserve team, she was tasked with managing the testing and operational transfer of the Treasury Reserve product off the NatWest Money Market system onto the existing RBS equivalent. This facilitated the eventual integration of the RBS Bids and NatWest/RBS currency deposit business into the Centre.

In 2005, Sue assumed her current role, together with day to day responsibility for running of the centre.

Yvonne Hatch – CDM Manager

Yvonne first joined National Westminster Bank in 1974, working for 11 years in Hinckley, Leicestershire. Moved to Staffordshire in 1985 and returned to work at Eccleshall Branch after taking a six year break to have her family, Michael 21, Christopher 19 and Rebecca 18. She has experienced a variety of roles from Cashier to Manager’s Assistant and moved to the TRC in 1993 as a part time dealer. Achieved the role of Assistant Manager in 2002 and has seen the Centre grow as a Centre of Excellence and become the UK Operating Centre. Out of the office, Yvonne enjoys reading, going to the theatre and socialising with friends.

Simon Wilkes – Assistant Manager, Treasury Telephony Team

Simon originally joined the Bank in 2002, working in Retail as a Customer Advisor, having worked in a number of varying jobs ranging from salesman to Bouncy Castle erector. Following a two and a half year spell working as a Team Leader in RBS HR in Manchester, he moved back to his hometown of Newcastle where he took up the position of Dealer at the UKOC in January 2006. In April that year, Simon was successful in his application for the Role of Assistant Manager of the Treasury Telephony Team.

Julian Vickers – Manager, Systems Team

Julian joined the Bank in 1974 and spent the next 18 years in Branch Banking, working in some 10 branches, and completed this time with Retail as Assistant Manager, Lending.

In 1992, Julian moved to the then TRC, forming part of the original Ops management team who jointly set up the Centre. He remained at the TRC for 9 years, ending his time here as Business Project Manager, which included a 6 month period as acting Centre Manager. He then moved to Group Technology to assist with the massive IT projects that were required to merge RBS and NatWest applications, following the take over of NatWest. After a couple of years, Julian moved back to the Centre in 2003 to join the Systems team, becoming team manager in 2006.
