Dear Candidate,
Thank you for expressing an interest in the People and Development Director role.
We are hoping to be approved as a Foundation Trust in June this year which will enable us more freedom and flexibility in how we deliver our services. We are a forward thinking, progressive organisation who are looking to take the quality of our service to the next level.
We are seeking someone who can operate at both a strategic and operational level and shares the same ethos around provision of excellent quality service through investing in and developing our workforce. You will be an excellent communicator who has the necessary credibility and gravitas at Board level and who can drive the organisational development agenda through effectively.
If you feel you have the experience and skills we are looking for I very much look forward to receiving your application.

Established in April 2002, Pennine Care NHS Trust is a Specialist Mental Health Trust, covering a population of almost 1.2 million throughout the Boroughs of Bury, Rochdale, Oldham, Stockport, Tameside and Glossop.
The Trust has been an early beneficiary of the National Programme for IT (NPfIT) having on-line booking systems enabling patient choice and also benefiting from improved financial systems. This has given the trust valuable data to support strategic decisions. The Trust has also undergone a radical repair and renewal scheme to the estates and facilities and a new building has been built in Tameside.
The Board appreciate the importance of the workforce and the impact staff can have on improving the quality of services, a significant driver for the organisation. The Trust has applied for Foundation Trust status and it anticipated that they will be a Foundation Trust by June 2008.
Working in partnership with Local Authorities, Primary Care Trusts, Health Authorities and the independent sector, the Trust is committed to providing fully integrated, continually improving and locally accessible mental health services in a range of hospital and community settings. Users and carer involvement is a priority for the Trust, to facilitate the development of services that are appropriate, accessible and responsive.
The development of a Specialist Mental Health Trust was designed to enable the maximum benefits to be achieved for service users, their carers and families, and staff working in the Trust. It has also facilitated further integration of health and social care by bringing together a critical mass of mental health professionals.
The Trust has been scored as excellent in the HealthCare Commission’s latest review conducted in 2006/07 for quality of service and scored 'good' for use of resources.
The Trust offers the following services:-

NHS Foundation Trusts are a new type of NHS organisation, established as independent, not for profit public benefit corporations with accountability to their local communities rather than Central Government control. The Secretary of State for Health has no powers of direction over them. NHS Foundation Trusts remain firmly part of the NHS and exist to provide and develop healthcare services for NHS patients in a way that is consistent with NHS standards and principles - free care, based on need not ability to pay. Clinical activity for private patients is strictly limited.
