Park View Business and Enterprise School is a small, dynamic school in the heart of multi-cultural Birmingham. With 600 pupils and an experienced, aspirational Senior Management Team, the school is the perfect place to start or move onto the next stage of your career.

Park View is an 11-16 school in the Alum Rock area of Birmingham. The school is truly multi-cultural with almost 40 languages spoken by pupils. Over 90% of the pupils are from a Muslim background and the school is sympathetic to the needs of all religions. Daily collective Islamic worship is provided by the school. The school is over-subscribed and has developed strong relationships with the local community.

Park View is a 4-form entry school although the pupils are taught across 5 forms, allowing for small class sizes across the school. The school has a very large TA team, tailored to meet the needs of all pupils – including language and SEN support – and to support specific subjects. The number of students with SEN statements is well below the national average.

The school has been at the forefront of curriculum innovation in Birmingham for some time. Examples include:

  • The school are currently working with the Birmingham Repertory Theatre on a two-year project supporting pupils in play writing and performance.
  • Accelerated GCSE entries in Urdu
  • Vocational GCSEs in Business and Science Work-related curriculum using college and work-based providers
  • Cross-subject induction for Year 7
  • The school’s Music department is viewed by the city as at the forefront of developing a Music curriculum appropriate to the needs of the Muslim community.

Staff at Park View are provided with a wide range of training and development opportunities. NQTs take part in the LEA’s highly regarded Induction programme and are supported in school by designated mentors and are provided with a laptop. All staff will be undertaking the Teacher Effectiveness Enhancement Programme (TEEP) training and many staff take part in the Leading From the Middle programme provided by the National College for School Leadership. The school are working towards Investors in People status.

Park View is a school that is looking to the future. The headteacher has developed strong curriculum teams with committed, well qualified staff and the school has begun involvement with the Building School’s for the Future programme.

Current facilities include:

  • Multi use, all weather sports pitch and well-equipped gymnasium
  • Large Design and Technology block with dedicated ICT suite
  • A separate City Learning Centre and Naseby Community Centre are located at the front of the main site
  • Library with Connexions area and class teaching facilities
  • Dedicated well-equipped teaching areas for Science, Music, Textiles, Food and Art
  • Business and Enterprise status has enhanced facilities in this curriculum area. A Business and Enterprise Centre has been established at the school and there are 4 classrooms dedicated to ICT/Business.
