Welcome to Careers with Parkfield High School

Welcome to colleagues who we hope will want to pursue an application for a post at Parkfield High School – an inner urban comprehensive school and Specialist Language College which has also just been designated the city’s first Academy and will move into brand new accommodation within the next four years.

Parkfield has been at the heart of inner city provision within Wolverhampton for the last 40 years and has prided itself on enhancing the life chances of young people throughout that time.  The success of the school is measured not only in terms of the achievements of its most successful pupils but also in terms of its inclusive nature and the opportunities it provides for pupils who face some of life’s more challenging circumstances.

The school’s recently awarded Specialist status is testimony to the achievement of inner city youngsters and the staff who work with them and the decision to change the school’s status to that of an Academy is a further reflection of Parkfield’s worth within the community it serves.  We are fortunate to have sponsors of national and international renown as well as the sponsorship and backing of the City Council.  Together we are developing an exciting future for the provision of education within Wolverhampton, a future that will embrace twenty first century teaching and learning styles – new technologies and new pedagogies!

The school enjoys a close working relationship with its parents and community partners.  We are currently a split site school (the sites approximately 3 miles apart) serving two diverse and culturally rich communities. Our curriculum reflects the needs of our local community as well as the school’s language specialism.  In addition to the more traditional, we offer a wide range of vocational choices at KS4 and KS5 and we are moving to the delivery of a themed approach at KS3 from September 2008.

The school takes its responsibility as an Investor in People organisation very seriously and we have a comprehensive induction programme for all new appointments to the school.  We also take on-going CPD very seriously and we have recently been designated a Teacher Learner Academy.  We also embrace a variety of ITT programmes and welcome the opportunity to be involved in GTRP programmes.  We are also a school that has responded with enthusiasm to the National Remodelling the Workforce Agenda and we employ a significant number of non-teaching personnel who enhance every aspect of the school’s provision.

The future of Parkfield High School is both exciting and challenging.  We want you (whether an experienced colleague or a NQT) to consider being a part of that future and to help us to shape the education provision for the next generation of learners.
