This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the largest acute trusts in the UK and to take a direct hand in driving the organisation forward. We intend to apply for Foundation Trust status and the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring we achieve Foundation Trust status.
I do hope you decide to apply for the role and look forward to receiving your application.
Regards,
Mark Mansfield
Director of Finance and Procurement, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest in the UK with an annual budget of around £600 million. The Trust was formed on 1 April 2006, when two top-rated trusts - Queen's Medical Centre and – Nottingham City Hospital merged in order to develop a range of high-quality, sustainable patient services across the two campuses.
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust was named one of the top five teaching Trusts in the UK in the 2007 ‘Good Hospital Guide’ by health information specialist Dr Foster. The guide says that among the key factors of this success were strong partnership working and high quality information.
As a major teaching Trust, NUH enjoys close links with the city's universities and attracts and develops the highest calibre of staff. It continues to be the hospital of choice for patients and remains at the forefront of research. It has one of the busiest emergency departments in the UK and has a total of 2,200 hospital beds across both campuses.
The vision and ambition of NUH is to be ‘the country’s leading Teaching Trust by 2016.’
Following merger a number of underlying financial issues emerged and a deficit of £6.8m occurred in 2006/7. However good progress has been made in addressing these issues and the Trust is presently on course in working towards the following short term objectives:
The Executive Director of Finance, Mark Mansfield, joined the Trust in September 2007. As part of a re-structuring exercise Mark now wishes to appoint a new Deputy Director of Finance along with 5 other Assistant Directors of Finance that will report directly to the Deputy Director of Finance. In a recent recruitment process four appointments were made to these roles.
