About Us

NHS North Staffordshire was established on 1 October 2006 as the NHS Body responsible for health services for the 210,000 plus population of Newcastle under Lyme and the Staffordshire Moorlands, in place of the previous two separate PCTs.

NHS North Staffordshire plans, provides and commissions health services for its communities and has three main objectives:

  • To maintain health, improve health and reduce inequalities
  • To maintain and improve services
  • To work closely with social care and those organisations who support the community

The Trust employs over 1,200 staff and directly provides a range of community nursing and therapy services - district nursing, health visiting, school nursing, speech & language therapy, physiotherapy and intermediate care - and is responsible for all GP practices, NHS dentists, community pharmacists and optometrists in the area.

NHS North Staffordshire also manages the community hospitals and health centres across its area. It continues to develop the range of community based services to provide care and treatment closer to home, remaining true to its aim of making good things happen quickly whenever possible.

NHS North Staffordshire works hard to strengthen its communication links with the public through a number of channels, in order that residents are aware of what it is doing and have the opportunity to comment at as early a stage as possible.
