Welcome
Do you want to be part of a school community, which has:
- Outstanding leadership.
- An exemplary approach to teaching and learning.
- A focus on and additional funding for professional development.
- A supportive, can do approach to change and innovation.
- Student achievement, enjoyment and well being at its core.

Cheltenham Kingsmead has made rapid progress during the last few months, coming out of special measures and receiving an Ofsted report which comments on the good and outstanding practice in the school.
- “the quality of teaching and learning is good”
- “behaviour is generally good, students perceptions of learning have changed”
- “senior leadership is outstanding”
- “tracking and monitoring of student and staff progress is exemplary”
Ofsted report. March 2007.
Cheltenham Kingsmead is part of a community which is changing perceptions about the area of the town in which it is situated. New housing, community facilities and the real possibility of an academy on the current school site means that the future is both bright and exciting. The academy and falling roles means that by the end of 2009 the school will begin to make way for students to move to the new academy but that does not influence the work of the school until then. The school is firmly student focused.
Working at Kingsmead means teaching alongside dedicated professionals who have Teaching and Learning as their main priority. The school has the benefit of an experienced Executive Headteacher and supportive governing body who maintain a close strategic involvement ensuring that staff are supported at all times. The school has been praised for its use of consultants, coaches and trainers and surrounding schools to both widen experience and enhance practice.
All staff and students have contributed to a school which is now confident in its ability to go forward and meet other challenges. The challenge for the next two years is to embed the good practice currently seen. We are by no means the finished article and some issues still remain, however the school is currently in a strong position to be an attractive option for new staff. We have just secured an enhanced training budget and within the school staff are exposed to a creative and enabling environment.
We are looking for hardworking and talented teachers who want to learn quickly and are keen to start or forward their careers in a positive and friendly environment. If you are someone who wants to make your mark and would enjoy working with a really great bunch of students then Cheltenham Kingsmead is for you.
Yours Sincerely
Steve Jowett
Acting Headteacher
