What Our Staff Say About Us

We strive to give our teachers career opportunities in a supportive environment that plays to their strengths, interests and our pupils needs. Here are some of our staff experiences…

star“I first started working at James Elliman as a supply teacher. I liked the atmosphere of the school and found the staff very helpful. Through my agency I was asked if I would take on a two month contract, one term in year 3 and one term in year 4. The school agreed to support me through my NQT year for this period. Later I was offered permanent in year 1 and was able to complete my NQT year. During this year I always found the school supportive and friendly. Slough Council run a series of NQT courses which I found very informative and a great way of meeting other teaching staff in Slough.”

“I began teaching my year one class at James Elliman at the start of the Winter term in Januarystar. The challenge of starting mid-term though was made easy and straightforward by the welcoming staff and I settled in quickly. I still had one term of my NQT year to complete and my NQT mentor (the assistant head) was instrumental in helping me achieve this. I was sent on a range of useful courses and workshops helping me develop professionally and my lessons were observed regularly with useful and constructive feedback, which helped inform my day to day practice and reassure me that I was following established practices and policies at James Elliman. The key stage one team at James Elliman have a very good relationship and I have learnt a lot from the other teachers here already. I look forward to continuing my career at the school and being part of the exciting changes that are taking place.”
