Berkshire lies in the South East of England and stretches 60 miles west from London to the Wiltshire border. The Thames runs along the northern boundary of Berkshire and this area, together with the parts of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire that border the river, is known as the Thames Valley

A Town of Surprises

Slough is a busy town in Berkshire which began life as a small settlement in Norman times. It is a place of spaces and waterways on the edge of beautiful countryside to complement the urban feel of the town. New international businesses are choosing to locate here as opposed to London, increasing employment opportunities for local residents.

Events such as the Canal Festival (held alongside the Slough arm of the Grand Union Canal) and the firework display have become annual events attracting people from all of our communities and the wider area.

Slough benefits from a theatre, multiplex cinema, ice arena, a number of council-owned and private health clubs. The town centre has two indoor shopping complexes and many of the major high street retailers. The pedestrianised piazza is the platform for entertainment, events and festivals in the town and is surrounded by more than 300 shops, restaurants and pubs. The diverse cultures of Slough offer an exciting mix and range of restaurants, serving most foods.

By road

Slough is about:

  • 1 mile north of Junction 6 of the M4 Motorway. The M4 Motorway links London to South Wales, north of Swansea and LLanelli. Slough is about 25 miles from London and 165 miles from Swansea.
  • 5 miles west of Junction 15 of the M 25 Motorway. The M 25 is the London orbital motorway, over 100 miles in circumference.
  • 5 miles SW of Junction 1 of the M 40 Motorway. The M 40 Motorway links London to the West Midlands. Slough is about 100 miles from Solihull, Birmingham.

By Train

Slough Station, is located in Brunel Way, Slough, SL1 1XW The town is also served by a mainline train station into central London - 15 minutes from Paddington.

By Bus

Slough Borough Council publishes each year a comprehensive guide to bus services in Slough. Bus and train services provide quick and easy links to the town centre and destinations such as airports, hospitals, schools and rail stations in the Slough area.

By Coach

Slough is linked with London by the Green Line coach network www.greenline.co.uk

By Air

Slough in Berkshire is convenient for Heathrow Airport. Heathrow is situated close to two motorways - the M4 and the M25. Heathrow is about 8 miles from Slough.
