Here at James Elliman we are looking for special people who can play an important part in our pupil’s development.
As a teaching team we work together to strive to improve the quality of Education that we offer to all of our pupils. All staff will get the chance take part in our rich extra curriculum activities.
Ofsted comments on the strength of our strong senior leadership team commenting that…
“…the headteacher has provided the school with clear direction.”
It also commented on the effectiveness of our excellent tailor made whole school training and support systems -
“…The recent improvement in teaching and learning over the past year stems from effective self-evaluation and the school's own staff training programme. This has included the development of the high quality teaching assistants to class teacher status, which has stabilised the staffing.”
We’re proud to call ourselves a community school and have worked hard to develop a school, which is totally inclusive, engaging not only our pupils but also the wider community.
We have over 700 pupils on role with a three form entry that has a maximum number of 90 pupils per year group. All classes are mixed ability and there is informal grouping within classes.

Our school motto is “Where Children come first” as our children are important to us regardless of their ability. Our reputation rests in our children doing well not just in academic subjects, but in all areas of the curriculum. As a school we achieve ‘Excellent Added Value’.
The school has a parent teacher association called “The Friends of James Elliman School”, all teachers are automatically members. The association holds a number of social and fund raising events throughout the year for both children and adults.
We take an active part in our whole community including running a weekly nurturing Programme for our parents.
