Hull is a Beacon award winning college and has gained an excellent reputation both regionally and on a national level.

With significant investments in new state of the art accommodation and further developments underway, Hull College is proud of its facilities and extensive learning provision which has been recognised as one of the top ten colleges nationally.

The College’s success is also a result of the innovative partnership with the local community, business and education both within the city, regionally, nationally and internationally helping inform curriculum development, investment and partnership work.

Our Background

Along with its sister site, Goole College, Hull College has four centres of excellence. The main college campus overlooks Hull’s city centre, a vibrant maritime city currently experiencing a period of growth and investment. With 5000 full time and over 25,000 part time students for the period 06/07. The College has achieved a success rate of 74%, placing it in the top 10 percent of Colleges nationally.

Our Provision

Students at the College come from a wide geographical area, studying both further and higher education options. From A Levels to NVQs, National Diplomas to Foundation Degrees and Degrees, full-time or part-time, in subjects ranging from Business Management to Engineering and Performing Arts to Health and Social Care. The College also has a growing International student base.

Hull College also offers community education and has a portfolio of work based and franchise provision. In addition, the College is the major provider of Skills for Life delivery within the region.

Student support is wide ranging and includes Learner Support Services Team</, brand new facilities for students who have additional support needs, and onsite childcare centres.

Our Facilities

Building on the £11 million investment on the Queens Gardens site the College has opened a Construction Centre of Excellence in September to compliment our outstanding facilities at the Cannon Street site. 

Learning and leisure facilities include the recent addition of the 200 seat Riverside theatre and Charlotte’s silver service training restaurant, both of which are open for public usage. Other onsite facilities include an indoor construction workshop, science laboratories, hair and beauty salons, libraries, cafes, and Ofsted assessed childcare centres. Hull College students benefit from state of the art facilities located in the impressive Kingston Communication Stadium, providing specialist sport and Education training alongside our Scholars Gym. 

Our Inspection Results

The publication of the recent Ofsted/ALI inspection report for the period w/c 25th April 2005 places Hull College as one of the top three FE colleges nationally.

With outstanding grades for both curriculum and student support areas the report reflects the College approach to its environment, partnerships with community, education and business partners and its ethos as regards social inclusion.

The inspection team also highlighted key areas of excellence: excellent financial management and resources; good progression opportunities; excellent employer links; good equality of opportunities; and students succeeding better than predicted on entry.
