Highfield school

Welcome to Highfield School

“Working in partnership to provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment where every member of the school community is valued and the pupils’ individual needs are met through the provision of high quality support and teaching”

Welcome to Highfield School, Knowsley’s only borough-wide SEBD specialist provision for young people aged 11 –16.

We currently have 45 young people on roll with a gender ratio of 41 males to 4 females.

Our main aim is to offer a learning community that promotes social inclusion and a personal, social  and emotional well-being that helps each of our pupils to achieve and to develop to their maximum potential.
We believe that every student has the right to feel valued and that it is our responsibility to build a structure that enables this to happen.

We believe passionately that it is our role, as a school, to provide the care and support that our pupils need.

For us to reach our goals our staff must be highly committed and dedicated to working with students who have a range of emotional and behavioural needs. Staff must be driven by the need to care and want to make a difference to our young people.

Our most recent LA inspection highlighted the work of the staff: “It is a testimony to the resilience and professionalism of staff that children continue to attend, participate and achieve at the school.”

We take great pride in recruiting the best staff to work in our school.  We want hardworking, dedicated, dynamic and innovative candidates who feel that they can make a real difference to our school.

We want people who have ideas and who aren’t afraid to work hard to make those ideas a reality.

The behaviour exhibited by some of the young people, particularly in terms of their physical and verbal aggression, may at times challenge staff.  Those who choose to work with this group of young people will recognise this and will be supportive of the work at Highfield School.

For those of you who thrive on working in an environment where no day is the same and where you can make a real difference to young people’s lives then we look forward to meeting you.
