Welcome to HBOS

Following the merger of Halifax and Bank of Scotland on 10th September 2001, HBOS has 22 million customers.

With assets of over £440 billion, it is the UK's largest mortgage and savings provider as well as being a major player in the provision of new current accounts and credit cards in the UK.

With around 2.5 million private shareholders, HBOS has the largest private shareholder register in the UK. Profit before Tax for the year ended 31st December 2004 was £4.6 billion.

Retail IT

Retail IT is a division within HBOS plc and is responsible from an operational and support perspective for all of the existing systems and all of the IT development for the retail side of the business. Retail IT therefore provides the HBOS businesses with the technical backbone to support all Branches, Estate Agents, Contact Centres and Head Office systems in the UK.

Currently the division has around 1,100 IT professionals based mainly in West Yorkshire but also at a number of other sites across the UK. For this permanent recruitment project, candidates will be based across the "West Yorkshire campus" or Chester which includes sites within Leeds, Halifax or Chester.

Retail IT works in partnership with the business to help provide the technological changes that enable the mould of traditional High Street banking to be changed forever. The division currently has many major challenges all based around a significant change agenda to support the ongoing progress of HBOS as a business and guarantee their position at the forefront of the financial services industry.
