Scenario

Grosvenor International Property Services (GIPS) was established in 2002 by Grahame Whitehead and Anthony Stone. The company was set up to meet the overwhelming demand from South Africa and surrounding African nations who wanted to purchase property in the UK for investment purposes.

GIPS offers its clients opportunities for short, medium or long term capital growth, strong yields on buy to let properties or buy to resell and buying off plan properties therefore accessing faster profits.

The opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join the team as an overseas property investment consultant/broker arose due to the expansion plans of the company. Although the benefits were massive including a substantial increase in standard of living and a massive tax-free offshore income, the major challenge still remained in recruiting a suitable person willing to relocate from the UK to South Africa.

Solution

GIPS approached Hays Specialist Recruitment for a solution. They were pointed in the direction of the Hays Direct team who suggested an online-based strategy, specifically targeting Londoners willing to relocate to South Africa.

A campaign site was constructed and positioned on the Sales channel of Hays.com.

In addition to this the job was posted on five relevant external job boards using the Multi Post product. A target mail was sent to directly relevant candidates on the Hays database to inform them of the position.

To manage the response GIPS were given an online response management system; which filtered the response and allowed GIPS to keep control and arrange all their interviews from South Africa.

Result

GIPS received around 100 applications and from those candidates conducted a total of five interviews, managing to fill the position in just three weeks.

A total of £6,500 was saved using the Hays direct recruitment method.

Anthony Stone, Director of GIPS:
“Once I gave the go ahead, Leigh began working on the advert immediately and was very diligent in providing me with draft copies as and when requested. He helped me compile the list of questions for the application form and was able to explain (knowledgeably) why certain questions would 'fare' better than others. He managed me and the process extremely well and I was very pleased with his design of the advert.

I was delighted with the good result - and particularly with the service Leigh Lauwrens and from Emma Collins. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending Hays to potential recruiters especially if their requirements are unorthodox.”
