Welcome
Welcome From the Headteacher Mr Gerard Lonergan
Welcome to Gateacre Community Comprehensive School. We are a large and successful comprehensive school in the south of Liverpool, constantly striving to be better.
We aim to put the child at the centre of everything we do, providing a curriculum that is appropriate to individuals and which allows them to prosper.
We are a fully inclusive environment, welcoming all young people whatever their ability or disability, their talent or their need.
We are proud of the care, support and guidance that we provide for all our students helping them make informed decisions, preparing them to take an active role in society and find a path in life that leads to their personal wellbeing and happiness.
We are dedicated to creating an ethos and environment that puts the quality of the educational experience at the top of our priorities and ensures that each child and young person is able to access a rich and rewarding experience.
This is an active commitment that we embody by providing a wide and varied curriculum at all key stages; by a huge range of extra-curricular activities within and outside the school, in this country and abroad; through our Support Centre, Learning Zones and Special Needs provision which give a little extra to those with particular needs; through our partnerships with other secondary schools, with local colleges and our primary schools which provide a continuity of experience in the locality.
Gateacre Community Comprehensive is a Specialist School for the Arts and Humanities. We have 1600 students including a Sixth Form of two hundred and fifty . We work within a 14 –19 local collaborative of seven schools and the Community College. We are also part of a Learning Network of three secondary, twenty-one primary and two Special Schools. We are part of the Building Schools for the Future project and are currently designing a brand new school which will open in September 2010.
We are looking to bring people to the school who really want to make a difference and believe that they can. We are looking for people in every role who believe that their prime task is to nurture the success of the students we care for. People who believe that working in a school is a pleasure and a privilege and who are excited by change and challenge.
