Jonathan Deans BSc Hons MRICS Partner |
I joined Gardiner & Theobald in 1992 after graduating from Reading University.
My first few years was spent gaining project experience and following the G&T structured training programme towards RICS chartership in 1995.
Continuing my study for two more years I achieved a risk management qualification from the Institute of Risk Management in 1997.
In those first five years my experience was across a broad range of sectors including galleries (award winning Dulwich Picture Gallery), offices (New Parliamentary Buildings), office fit-out (No 1 Silk Street), heritage (Royal Naval College). I also spent a period of time in our Dubai office.
In 1998, I became an Associate and moved on to a Senior Associate in 2001. In this period I built and managed a team of four surveyors and became actively involved in work winning. I was involved in the City University Business School, the award winning Beddington Zero (Fossil Fuels) Energy Development, Goodwood Racecourse and office fit-out at City Point.
I was promoted to a salaried Partner in 2001 and took my first step on the equity partner ladder in 2004.
My current project portfolio has been built up through extensive business development and competitive bidding.
I am currently overseeing three major projects: Ashmolean Museum redevelopment in Oxford, a new campus for Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College and a mixed use regeneration scheme Station Plaza Hastings, in addition I have fifteen other live projects and lead a team of nine surveyors.
Within the firm I lead our Museums and Galleries team and our Environment and Sustainability team and have became involved in the management of the business.
Gardiner & Theobald have supported my development from graduate through to equity partner, offering the right level of support and remuneration to enable my career development and successive promotions.
I’m clearly a fan of G&T and believe we have many qualities to attract the aspiring surveyor.
