About the School

Frankley Community High School is a small 11-16 secondary school that is right in the heart of the local community. There are just over 400 pupils on roll and a dedicated team of 39 teaching and 27 support staff. They host the local City Learning Centre, public library, youth service and a neighbourhood office. Frankley is a true community school and the services available have a tremendously positive impact on the local area.

All classrooms have access to interactive technology, which greatly enhances teaching and learning. They have 3 specialist ICT suites, fully equipped with the latest computers and are all networked with Internet access. In addition, each member of staff has their own laptop.

The school has several newly refurbished science laboratories and boasts an impressive sports hall, gymnasium and a large range of outdoor facilities. With a theatre and a drama studio, they can offer plenty of opportunities for students to perform. There is also an extensive program of extra curricular activities and weekend courses for the children.

Frankley is a good school. Their Contextual Value Added (CVA) places Frankley School in the top 4% in the country and their PANDA has rated them an A* since 2001.

They have been described as "really being at the heart of the local community" and being an extended school in all but name. Their partnerships and the quality of their staff allows them to be "at the leading edge of development and training". The CLC was described as offering "awesome technical support", having an impressive working relationship.

Frankley understand that their greatest asset is their staff and they pride themselves in taking a genuine interest in both their personal and their professional development. Staff are offered a minimum of two individually tailored training sessions per week and have a host of mentoring and support structures in place. Many have enjoyed "fast track" promotions to positions of responsibility and all are actively encouraged to make a valuable contribution to the team.

With a track record of attracting excellent teachers, Frankley offer a friendly, understanding and supportive environment where teachers can really make a difference to the children's lives.
