Thank you for showing an interest in a job opportunity at the school. This is a school where you’ll have a real opportunity to make an impact on pupils’ lives, where you’ll be part of a supportive, welcoming team and where you can make real progress with your career.
The whole staff - both teaching and non-teaching are the major asset for the school. All of them are committed to developing their careers and taking advantage of the training opportunities that are on offer. This "Grow your own" approach to staff allows us to get the full benefit from everyone who works at the school. We are heavily involved in Initial Teacher Training and have found that many of our trainees like what they see so much that they choose to stay with us when job opportunities arise.
Our last OFSTED report said "Frankley Community High School aims to achieve success for all of its pupils... And it really does!" From our point of view we couldn’t have written a better sentence ourselves if we wanted to sum up what we do. It goes on to describe us as a "Good" school and points out that we’ve made remarkable progress.
We are a genuine ‘Community’ school, benefiting from a Public Library, active community use of our facilities, one of the best City Learning Centres in the country, involvement with the Youth Service and a Learning Support Unit that is the hub for our special needs.
Our pupils come from an area of high deprivation and often with low levels of prior attainment. Despite this we have made remarkable progress over the last 8 years. Contextual Value Added consistently puts us in the top 5% of schools in the country and last year we were in the top 5% for Value Added as well. More than 50% of our pupils have gained over 5 A* to C grades for the last 6 years and we are making a habit of getting 100% to leave with at least 1 A* to G grade.
We are currently a National Challenge school and are already making good progress towards achieving the 30% 5 A* to C grades (including English and Maths) target. We are helped in this by the OAKs Collegiate of schools and by a supportive Local Authority. We are determined to meet this challenge - and then move on to the next one - but at the same time we are looking for it to impact on all of our pupils, not just those who might turn Ds into Cs.
This is an excellent place to begin your career or to develop it further. We have far more to offer than we could ever mention in any advert so if you are interested come and see what we have to offer.
