The Borough of Rochdale has much to offer the people of the area and visitors.

Situated approximately 10 miles from the north of Manchester city centre its excellent motorway connections make travelling easy.  Just a few miles from the vibrant city centre of Manchester but also a short drive away from the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, Pennine Way, Lake District and North Wales.  The school is located close to the M60 & M62 motorways giving excellent access to Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool.

Dominated by spectacular views of moorland and countryside Rochdale is a fascinating place to explore.  The town has been at the forefront of political and cultural changes.  Rochdale is only one of few industrial towns that can trace its history back to the Doomsday book of 1086. Rochdale’s prime location enabled the borough to benefit from the cotton, textile and silk industries.

There are many benefits to living and working in Rochdale. The high quality life offers a wide choice of places to live at reasonable cost.  There is a wide selection of housing in the area ranging from tiny cottages and terraces to houses verging on being stately! House prices in the area may surprise those of you who are used to living in the high cost parts of the country!

The town also benefits from good public transport links, a range of shopping and entertainment venues, many parks which can offer outdoor activities and festivals.

From spectacularly colourful festivals and cultural events to sport and live music, Manchester has it all. As one of the most exciting and dazzling places in the UK whatever you’re looking for be it: food, drink, shopping or socialising: Manchester is the place to do it.

Manchester has lots to be proud of from its cosmopolitan atmosphere to its sporting and musical successes.  The city has rich layers of history which are integrated with new, modern buildings; it is this contrast that demonstrates the forward thinking attitude of Manchester.

As the capital of the north, Manchester is easy access for towns and cities across the North West.  For those of you who want to get away from it all, Manchester is only a short drive away from the seaside town of Blackpool, if you don’t fancy “Kiss Me Quick Hats” and sticks of rock, stay in the car a little longer and you’ll be greeted by the beautiful and breathe taking scenery of the Lake District.   

If you want to go a little further, Manchester Airport, the third largest in the country and offers flights all over the world – short haul and long haul.  The airport is easy access by car, bus or train. 

Yorkshire Dales

In contrast to the bright lights of Manchester, the Yorkshire Dales is often described as tranquil, expansive and awesome!Yorkshire Dales
The National Park boasts Britain’s most famous long distance footpath, the Pennine Way. There are many ways to enjoy the Dales, be it on foot through one of the three National Trails or on horse back trotting by one of many rivers or lakes.

For those ‘adrenalin junkies’ amongst us, the dales also plays hosts to extreme sports including: Aerial Extreme, Scuba Diving, Hang Gliding, Kayaking, Windsurfing: if this doesn’t get your blood flowing then there’s always Parachute Jumping!!

Leeds

The city dubbed the “Knightsbridge of the North” - a shopoholic’s dream, offers a fantastic choice of shops, diverse year round entertainment and world class sports.

If you’re coming to Leeds in search of history and visitor attractions then you won’t be disappointed.  From jousting at the Royal Armouries, to the stunning surroundings of Harewood House there’s plenty to see and do. Leeds is also the only city outside of London to have its own ballet and opera companies – the internationally acclaimed Opera North and Northern Ballet.

Liverpool

The European Capital of Culture in 2008 beat off tough competition to win this fantastic award. Liverpool is a centre of maritime, cultural and sporting excellence.  The city is best known for being the birth pace of The Beatles whose legacy can still be seen all over the city with places like Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields being established tourist hotspots.

The city is also home to a number of museums and visitor attractions including: World Museum Liverpool, Walker Art Gallery, Tate Liverpool, Merseyside Maritime Museum, The Beatles Story and more!
