David Lister School is an established 11-16 comprehensive situated in East Hull. It draws students from 12 feeder primary school. The school has been through a challenging period. This includes the merger of two schools and the consequent staffing restructure. The merger will be fully completed in September 2008 when we will be based on one site.
David Lister was placed in Notice to Improve in May 2007. The HMI monitoring visit (January 2008) confirmed we are making satisfactory progress. ‘There is a strong focus on raising achievement’ (HMI January 2008). To read the full outcome of Ofsted's inspection please click here.
Should you join the school you will have the chance to be part of a team that takes a school out of an OFSTED category. This will be a positive contribution to a CV and good preparation for future promotion. Staff at David Lister are, with the recommendation of the Headteacher, guaranteed interviews for vacancies under the Hull BSF plan.
We are committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for students. It is to the credit of all -staff, students, parents/carers and other partners that the school exceeded its targets for GCSE 5 A* - C in 2007.
We need committed staff that are determined to provide educational opportunities so our students can achieve their potential and become independent lifelong learners. You will have the opportunity to work with some excellent staff and students. We want staff that are well qualified, enthusiastic, resilient and ambitious both for themselves and the school, able to establish and foster positive relationships.
I know that David Lister has the potential to be a successful school for the students that attend, the staff who work here and the community it serves. I came to the school to make a difference. Should you join us you will have the chance to make a significant contribution to the school’s success. It will be excellent experience for you as a professional.
We welcome visits to the school or if you would like to speak to me please contact the school.Mrs Tricia Hemming
