Welcome
Thank you for showing expressing an interest in working at Cranbourne Business and Enterprise College. The purpose of the following pages is to give you an insight into life at the College. I hope it creates an impression of a forward thinking institution, which takes pride in all the achievements of its students.
A note from the Headteacher:
I joined Cranbourne Business & Enterprise College in April 2006 as the new Headteacher. I was immediately impressed by the enthusiastic and friendly atmosphere where staff and students alike are keen to achieve.
My entire teaching career has been spent in Hampshire schools, which has spanned the past 25 years and included a break from teaching to bring up my own family. I have taught in five different schools, first as a maths teacher and then as an Assistant Headteacher at The Henry Beaufort School in Winchester before becoming a Deputy Headteacher at Crestwood College for Business & Enterprise in Eastleigh. Whilst times, priorities and the challenges facing young people have all changed significantly over this period, my passion for working with teenagers to develop their full potential as happy, healthy individuals, confident in their ability to play a full role in their community has not. I am a strong advocate for comprehensive ideals and every young person’s right to the very best education we can possibly provide. I am particularly proud to be Headteacher of a Business & Enterprise college, as I believe that developing entrepreneurial skills with a ‘can do’ attitude is an essential requirement for young people to succeed in the 21st century.
My time at CBEC so far has been spent developing a shared understanding of enterprise, working to build a more positive ethos by introducing a new rewards policy and establishing rigorous data systems to track student progress. With an emphasis on student involvement and progress we have introduced student workshops on assessment for learning in order to improve standards in teaching and learning across the board
Your Sincerely
Betty Elkins
