About Us

The Headteacher“The Coleshill School is an effective, inclusive school with some good features.” OFSTED January 2006

The Coleshill School is a mixed 11-to-18 comprehensive school of about 1027 pupils. Set in its own extensive playing fields, the school is situated on the outskirts of Coleshill, a small market town on the northern boundary of Warwickshire. A good road network provides easy accessibility from all parts of the area.

The school enjoys an excellent reputation. We became a Maths and Computing Specialist College in September 2004 and the facilities at the school include;

  • Extensive ICT facilities, including 5 fully equipped ICT suites specifically for the teaching of ICT with onsite technical support. Subject specific ICT rooms for maths, Science, Humanities, Music, Design and Learning Support. Sixth Form students and school staff have dedicated ICT facilities. In addition, class size sets of laptops are available for whole class teaching across the curriculum.
  • As standard we have access to Boardworks and Easiteach software.
  • Seven well equipped Science laboratories.
  • Thirty-five classrooms are equipped with interactive Tablet PCs and Data Projectors.
  • Part of Warwickshire’s We-Learn project, an interactive ICT initiative designed to develop pedagogy and styles of learning.
  • Dedicated facilities for Learning Support. The school also works closely with the neighbouring SEN school, providing an integrated timetable for the Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils.
  • Specialist rooms for Art and Design and Food Technology, Drama studio, Music suite and a purpose built Sixth Form centre.
  • Sports facilities include a 2 gyms, tennis courts and 8 hectares of playing fields.

“Maths and Computing College Status has proved to be a catalyst for school improvement over the last two years and this has been instrumental in the school achieving its highest results yet in 2005.”
OFSTED January 2006

Pupils come from the surrounding villages as well as the town of Coleshill itself. In recent years the school has attracted a significant proportion of pupils from outside of Warwickshire. The school is oversubscribed.

Pupils and students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities including sports, choir, drama, dance, skiing trips, and residential visits, in Britain and abroad. In the last two years visits have been made to France, Spain, Italy, and Namibia.

The most recent OFSTED Report January 2006 recognised “an effective, inclusive school with some good features”…... “pupils really enjoy coming to school”…… “managers at all levels feel valued and supported”…… “a good feature (is) accurate evaluation”…… “(the) school is effectively led and has a core group of committed senior and middle managers”.

The school is organised in horizontal year groups. We provide pastoral support and guidance through Form Tutors, Pastoral Leaders, a dedicated School Counsellor, Behaviour Support Services, Connexions and an extensive Sixth Form and Year Eleven pupil mentoring scheme.

The curriculum is regularly reviewed and developed. The school day starts at 8.30 am and the school operates a twenty-five period week. We offer GCSE and Applied GCSEs at Key Stage Four. At Post-16 we offer eighteen different AS and A Level courses including vocational courses and BTEC. We are very successful with Key Skills and have been given the School Achievement Award for our results.

We are a non-smoking site.
