About City School
The City School is at an exciting time in our development. We have a young, vibrant staff who are enthusiastic and ready to take the school forward.
Learning is at the heart of our curriculum and we are expecting a huge rise in our GCSE results this summer. We are planning to implement an innovative Year 7 curriculum in September that will be leading the school’s development of Learning to Learn which is based on the Accelerated Learning framework.
Our students are encouraged to be actively involved in their learning and there is a high participation rate in our wide extra-curricular programme, particularly in the Arts and PE. We have a strong Student Council, a Prefect System and are developing our Rewards System and Parent Voice.
We are a Full Core Offer Extended School with Investors in People status and are proud of the Continued Professional Development that we offer staff. The school is focusing on effective learning and teaching, sharing the good practice already present in the school and developing the capacity of Middle Leadership to help drive the school forward. We have Careers Mark and are working towards Healthy Schools Mark.
‘The school’s specialist status in Business and Enterprise is beginning to show a real impact on raising the aspirations of students’ (Ofsted 2007). We have strong links with a community in Malealea, Lesotho and a number of our Year 10 students have recently returned from a highly successful visit.
Our students are lively, challenging and never boring and our staff are committed to professionals who believe that all students can engage actively in their learning.
For us the most important task is the appointment of good staff who will lead our students to fulfil their potential. We are looking for someone with an instinct for taking on a challenge, who will have the enthusiasm, inspiration and determination to help continue our school improvement.
