Salary(ies): £25-£35k

Specialism: Construction & Property

Scenario

Scott Wilson were faced with an increasing amount of workload, minus sufficient manpower to cope with it. They wanted to expand but had had previous difficulties in being proactive about other roles and needed some expertise in this area. The job titles were a variety of civil and structural engineers ranging from Senior Highway Engineer to Bridge Engineer. At first there was some cynicism surrounding the idea of online advertising; Scott Wilson were rather against the idea, and thought of it as unnecessary and expensive. But, as rates were agreed and a positive spin was put on the solutions that could be provided to gain candidates, a good working relationship was formed.

Solution

A number of multiposts were used to attract candidates. Due to the range of job titles a mixture of specialist and generalist job boards were used, these included Just Engineers, Builder Group, Monster and TotalJobs. An incredible 30 page microsite was built detailing 23 of the their latest projects, forthcoming recruitment events and current opportunities with the company. Offline advertising included postcards, eshots and some trade press. The idea for this project was adapted from the Gardiner and Theobald project, which also included a massive microsite, with in-depth descriptions of the schemes they were developing and the job opportunities they had on offer.

Result

The open day for Scott Wilson was a great success, with around 20-30 people applying, and eight people being placed in jobs. Scott Wilson deemed the operation a success and good relations are ongoing, with another candidate being placed at present.
