The Royal Bank of Scotland were planning a major relocation from London to Stoke and needed help in attracting candidates for 70 different positions. The positions were very specific to the industry and ranged from operations manager and operations associate to agency treasury and global treasury fund manager and money markets manager, which made the task in hand even more difficult. RBS had no direct competitors in the Stoke area, meaning that candidates couldn’t be attracted from other companies. On top of that, the knowledge of RBS and their operations was very minimal to the population of Stoke. Hays Banking needed to operate under a tight deadline and had to place a quarter of the positions within a certain time frame.
Hays Banking suggested a total of 10 multiposts using both generalist job boards; GuardianJobs and Jobsite and specialist job boards; efinancial careers and exec-appointments. A campaign site was also launched to assist in attracting more candidates and allowing them a place where they could apply easily online. Offline adverts were also placed with the Financial Times. Ideas for the campaign were taken from previous successful projects such as Barclays, HBOS and Price Waterhouse Coopers.
The campaign was a success after hundreds applied for the roles. Between 30 and 40 people were placed, therefore filling 75% of the roles. There is a great ongoing working relationship between Hays Banking and RBS, who have set the standard as a role model for this particular brand. Overall RBS were very pleased with the result and are currently working alongside Hays Banking to find other methods of using recruitment solutions.
