PE Class

Welcome

Max P Bilsborough

Thank you for taking the time to look at the opportunities at Burnham Upper School.

I hope that you find the information and opportunities contained in this site interesting and that you want to join at this exciting phase in the school’s development.

Our aim is that the school is a warm friendly environment where students feel confident and can be challenged to achieve their best. Visitors to the school often comment on the positive atmosphere and how cooperative the students are to all in the school. We want to build on this creating a community where students have the opportunity to work together and succeed.

“Students behave well around the school and the school is a pleasant learning environment” HMI November 2007

This is an exciting time to join our school and join a committed team that work well together to help our students achieve. HMI monitoring visits have been keen to recognise the honest and open approach to school improvement and the clear direction that is given by the schools leadership team. The quality of teaching and learning is our key focus with progress being made in all areas of the school.

  • The headteacher provides strong leadership and has a clear focus on improvement
  • Senior leaders form a strong team with a sharp focus on improvement
  • A range of improvements have successfully been made to provision; appropriate plans are in place to develop quality further
  • The school is providing curriculum leaders with good training and support
  • Attendance has improved significantly
  • Students respond well to this good teaching:they enjoy learning and make good progress
  • The school has made good progress in the development of the 14-19 curriculum
