This is an exciting opportunity to work on assignment to a major telecommunications company and benefit from an accredited training and mentoring scheme. As a Frames Engineer you will be responsible for work related to maintenance, provision, installation, recovery, commissioning or modification on BT network services provided by the Main Distribution Frame (MDF).
Skills:
The successful person will have previous experience in engineering, construction, I.T or a similar craft requiring manual dexterity and must also display the aptitude to undergo and assimilate technical, operational and safety training. You must have a professional, helpful and positive approach to work and a proven ability to operate as part of a team. With a full driving licence (max 6 points) you must be prepared to travel to various exchanges during work hours and be able to work at height or in confined spaces. A flexible attitude to shift patterns and working hours is desirable. Candidates should also expect to be tested for colour blindness.
Responsibilities:
Provision & maintenance on all services delivered by a Main distribution frame (MDF) e.g. PSTN, ADSL, Local loop unbundling (LLU) etc Predominantly this requires the termination of wires by using either a soldering iron or IDC inserter. You will perform continuity and/or system testing and progress jobs through the Work Manager delivery tool. You will need to ensure that all work is carried out safely whilst employing correct working methods for which training is provided. You will need to meet agreed targets and timescales set out by your line management and the call centre.
You will benefit from a health and safety induction, industry accredited technical training and an extensive "buddying" period. Long term temporary contracts are available leading to the possibility of permanent employment.
