A message from the Principal
Thank you for your interest in working for Blackburn College.
The College is one of the largest employers in Blackburn with Darwen. We have a long history of excellent education and training, we serve over 20,000 students of
all ages, backgrounds, abilities and interests. We attract students from many miles
away and work closely with employers locally and nationally, helping the economy
to thrive and grow.
We have a thriving Sixth Form Centre and provide a wide range of degree, HND and
professional qualifications at our East Lancashire Institute of Higher Education. Our
reputation for Vocational Further Education courses is excellent and we provide
work-based, day release and short training courses for employers to develop the
skills and potential of their staff.
Many courses start outside normal term-times and are offered flexibly, to fit in with
students’ time constraints. We also design courses specific to employer objectives.
Some courses are located away from the main campus - at community centres or at
our management centre. We offer many free courses in basic IT, numeracy and
literacy skills. We can help with English as a Second Language and are used to
assisting people with disabilities or learning difficulties.
