Q: What attracted you to working at Barclays?

I joined Barclays because I was offered the chance to work with the business to take forward a major investment project. I saw this as an outstanding opportunity to establish my career with one of the largest and most respected employers in the locality.

Q: What do you think Barclays is like to work for on an interim/temporary basis?

Barclays is huge and the scale of the operation means that it is not necessarily the right culture for everyone. You are encouraged to take personal responsibility and are given the opportunity to prove yourself within the role. Ultimately, having gained considerable knowledge of the organisation via the interim role, this can lead to the chance to apply for a permanent position. One of the biggest obstacles is getting used to all the acronyms!

Q: What are your colleagues like?

Colleagues both within the Finance community and from other functions were very friendly, welcoming and supportive. From day one I was treated as part of the team. The atmosphere is very professional and requires a high degree of commitment, but is also one in which we strive to have fun.

Q: What do you like about working at Barclays?

Career development planning is taken very seriously by the Finance Senior Management Team and this creates an environment where opportunities exist for the right candidate to progress at what is the right pace for them. Barclays is a high performance and reward culture; the degree and pace of change is considerable and meeting this challenge can be highly rewarding, but it is not for the faint hearted!
