Suraj Wadhawan

While an apprenticeship is all about personal development and advancement, it is always a great pleasure to come across an individual who not only puts his all into making a success of his studies, but also consistently takes the time to help out his workmates with their duties as well as his own.

Suraj Wadhawan is just such a person. Currently working within the busy newspaper and magazine department at WH Smith in Terminal 4, Suraj has stood out for his exceptional attitude to teamwork, making a point of being there for his colleagues and always being ready to provide assistance even for those not working in the same department as himself.

In Spring 2007 Suraj started working towards a Level 2 apprenticeship in Retail, and by October had made rapid progress having completed his technical certificate and communication test and chosen to proceed on to the higher level key skills.

At the start of November he is working on his AON project and has started his NVQ units. Those working with Suraj on his apprenticeship have consistently commended him for his ‘can do’ attitude to his work and the high quality of his output. In particular, he is always quick to discuss potential problems early on and seek additional information that will enable him to complete his work more accurately and effectively.

After just six months into his program Suraj is now close to completion, despite having elected to take on the extra work load of the higher level key skills, and he is already exploring the possibility of moving on to an advanced apprenticeship once his Level 2 is safely wrapped up. His enthusiasm and dedication is continuously displayed in his work at the WH Smith outlet, with his first class customer service skills continually proving their value to his employer, and his efficient handling of deliveries, stock orders and replenishment a real asset to the smooth operation of the store. With his dedication and application, Suraj definitely has a great career in retail ahead of him.

About Apprenticeships

There are two levels of Apprenticeship available:

  • Apprenticeship (Level 2)
  • Advance Apprenticeship (Level 3)

Both programmes lead to a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ), a Key Skills Qualification and in certain areas, a Technical Certificate Award.
