Katarzyna Gralec
Katarzyna Gralec, known as Katie to her friends and
colleagues, is celebrating her recent promotion to the
role of supervisor at the Costa Coffee store at Heathrow’s
Terminal 2.
At the same time, Katie is following an apprenticeship to
gain her level 2 in customer service, which her mentor
describes she has taken to ‘like a duck to water.’ Katie’s
duties at Costa give her responsibility for ensuring
the efficient running of the store at all times. She
communicates well with her manager and other shift
supervisors to make sure that handovers go smoothly.
Katie is very conscientious when handling cash and
checking stock levels, making sure that no ingredient is
in short supply. She is also active in helping to keep the
Costa premises clean and presentable at all times.
Katie is really enjoying her apprenticeship and
understands everything that’s expected of her. She is
happy to approach her mentor with any queries so that
she can make quick progress on the course and build up
her understanding and knowledge.
Katie is on track to complete her technical certificate,
and with just one test left this is all but done. She has
produced excellent case studies which will go towards
her NVQ and has carefully cross-referenced them to the
key skills component in communications.
Katie’s progress is very good on all fronts, as she has
now completed three parts of her apprenticeship and is
moving up in her career. The prospects for her future are looking extremely good.
About Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships are nationally designed training programmes. They offer employees the opportunity to enhance their skills through a combination of work-based learning and training.
There are two levels of Apprenticeship available:
- Apprenticeship (Level 2)
- Advance Apprenticeship (Level 3)
Both programmes lead to a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ), a Key Skills Qualification and in certain areas, a Technical Certificate Award.
