With funding from London West Learning and Skills Council, The Retail Academy is offering existing retail and catering employees the opportunity to train and reach Retail Level 2 and 3 Apprenticeships or work towards a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) or go on to achieve Technical Certificate in Key Skills Qualification, which is equivalent to grade A-C GCSE in Maths or English.
As a result, those in the Under 25 and Over 25 age categories who may not have existing formal qualifications or speak English as a second language are supported by mentors as they cover courses spanning retail, customer service, distribution and storage, business admin, team leader and hospitality.
The Retail Academy with over 150 learners who have completed and over 200 in learning currently are pleased to report completion rates at 76% from its Retail Apprentice Schemes, (the national average is approx 54% )
Wanting to progress further? We have also launched a foundation degree in Retail operations and people management, to compliment the learning opportunities and help provide development support through into management positions. This has been developed with Thames Valley University and a steering group of key contacts from a handful of our employers to ensure we tailored the program to meet their needs:
