Opportunities

There is an ongoing commitment to improve performance and delivery across Arts Council England, and this has led over the past year to a major review of how we deliver finance, human resources and information technology (known as support services).

In June 2007 we announced our new professional support service structures. The purpose of the review was to identify how best the Arts Council can provide a high quality service to its external and internal customers now and in the future, while still delivering value for money.

The restructure will create a new support services centre in Manchester. New teams will be operating from offices in Manchester from Spring 2008 with recruitment starting in early 2008. It is expected that the new structure and the service centre will be fully functional by April 2009.

In summary, the new staffing structures for Arts Council England’s support services will be:

  • Finance and business support

In addition to our existing teams, based in our national office (in London) and regional teams, we will have new teams, based in Manchester. The new Application Logging Team will be the first team we recruit to from February 2008.
  • Human resources

Our new Human Resources service will have a strategic hub based in our national office, supported by four regional HR partners. A new team, based in Manchester, will provide administrative support for all staff and managers across the organisation. Recruitment will begin in April 2008.
  • Information technology

Our continued investment in IT will be managed by our national office based team, with support for all our staff delivered by the new Manchester based team. Recruitment to IT roles is scheduled for April 2008.
  • Enquiries

Our enquiries team currently operate from our national office, but when this service moves to Manchester next year, we expect vacancies to be advertised early in 2009.

Overall we will be recruiting for approximately 60 posts over the next 12 months.
