About us

Arts Council England is the national development agency, funder and campaigner for the arts in England.

We work to get more art to more people in more places. We develop and promote the arts across England, acting as an independent body at arm’s length from government. We believe that the arts have the power to change lives and communities, and to create opportunities for people throughout the country.

We have a significant budget over the next three years, which will enable as many people as possible to participate and enjoy great art across the country. To achieve this we recently reviewed how, and from which locations, finance, grant management, information technology, human resources and customer enquiry services are delivered by the organisation. We now need to recruit and develop skilled people to deliver these functions from a shared service centre.

Within the Arts Council in recent years, we have made significant progress in delivering a more efficient performance. This aim, and the restructure, have resulted in the creation of a National Support Centre in Manchester. Our continued investment in Information Technology is key to our ambitious plans, but recruiting talented individuals who enjoy working in a fast paced, challenging team environment will underpin the high quality, professional services provided by the new teams in Manchester.
