Training and professional development
Hays Education delivers tailored training, courses and conferences that have been designed to focus on the practical application of current educational strategy and thinking.
The highly participative events deliver content that is relevant to what is actually happening in the classroom - and all include strategies for translating the sessions into classroom practice for supply teachers.
Who Attends
The training sessions are available to all supply staff registered with Hays Education. We offer this training through open courses that we run on Saturdays or during half term holidays. The courses are advertised through the local office network and via our website www.hays.com/education. We also offer our training courses to individual schools or LAs.
Our Trainers
Hays Training utilises a team of associate trainers with a wide range of individual expertise. This policy enables us to deliver training through the most appropriate specialist practitioner rather than deploying a team of generalist trainers.
Many of these trainers are still actively teaching and all have an established track record in the courses they deliver. Trainer biographies are included in all course descriptions.
Formal evaluations take place after every course to ensure that the training is meeting the needs and expectations of the delegates and that the training experience is both memorable and relevant.
Our Experience
The courses we provide have evolved from Hays Education running a successful pilot scheme for the first accredited training course for supply teachers in the UK.
The BTEC Professional Certificate in Effective Supply Teaching was jointly sponsored by Hays Education and the Learning Skills Council and accredited by Edexcel. Access to this certificate has now ended. However we still provide the courses to our those working in supply teaching jobs or teaching assistant jobs.
Our Courses
As new initiatives are introduced by both government and education authorities we adapt and introduce new courses to keep our supply staff informed.
