SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENT

Our Sustainable Procurement Policy defines our commitment to sustainable development in our procurement activities and to responsible purchasing. Our starting point is compliance with current legal requirements relating to the environment. In addition, Hays will take a number of measures including the following. We will:

  • Consider suppliers' environmental policies and impact on the environment when appraising their overall performance.

  • Ensure that key supply and service contracts are awarded to suppliers on the basis of their environmental policies and performance as well as commercial factors.

  • Work with key suppliers to improve their overall environmental performance, encouraging them to reduce the environmental impacts of their products and processes and develop environmentally friendly products where possible.

  • Draw our Sustainable Procurement Policy to the attention of key suppliers and communicate it as widely as is practicable to the potential supply market.

  • Consider environmentally friendly alternatives, including recycled or refurbished products alongside conventional supplies.

  • Evaluate all significant purchases on the basis of whole life cost, including environmental cost.

  • Promote awareness of our Sustainable Procurement Policy among staff involved in procurement activities and incorporate it in the internal purchasing guidelines.
