The market for temporary medical, allied health and scientific professionals is highly competitive. As a result, experienced, flexible individuals with initiative, who are available to start work at short notice, will always be in demand.

Your Hays Healthcare recruitment consultant will work to secure the best possible rate of pay for every healthcare assignment you undertake and our daily payroll system will ensure that you are paid accurately and on time.

Holiday pay

As a Hays Healthcare temp, your holiday pay equates to four weeks paid holiday per year. This is usually 20 days pro rata for those who work full time hours. Anyone working as a limited company will not be eligible to claim holiday pay as it is already included in your pay rate. It is your responsibility to ensure that you book holidays on days that are acceptable to our client.

Because we realise that many people choose temporary work for the flexibility it offers, we will pay your holiday pay weekly and not in arrears which means that you can take your holiday whenever you choose and make the most of any time between assignments. Please be sure to advise your recruitment consultant well in advance if you wish to take holiday time during an assignment.

Referral bonus

Why not refer a friend or colleague to Hays Healthcare and earn some extra money. We’ll pay you a generous bonus for every medical, allied health and scientific professional that you refer. There are certain times when we all need a little extra support and guidance in our personal or professional lives. As a Hays Social Care temporary worker you will have access to our “Support Line” with a qualified counsellor and a supervisor on hand to offer Qualified Social Workers immediate help and support should the need arise.

Expand your healthcare skills

As a healthcare professional it is vital that your skills and training are continually kept up-to-date. At Hays Healthcare we understand that your professional development is important and we offer all our temporary workers a development bonus of up to £300 per year.

Following an initial qualifying period we will set up a Continued Professional Development Fund (CPD) which will grow in £25 multiples for every 100 hours that you continue to work through Hays Healthcare. This fund can be used to pay for your Mandatory Training updates and items such as books, training courses or even equipment. Your recruitment consultant will be able to give you full details of this offer.

All Hays Healthcare temporary workers are expected to maintain their mandatory training including CPR, Manual Handling, COSHH, RIDDOR and Health and Safety. You will have access to a range of courses across the country enabling you to enhance your clinical practice and also to produce clear recordable evidence of Continued Professional Development.

In addition, when you start working through Hays Healthcare, you will be provided with an Induction Handbook. This contains policies, procedures and statements aimed at providing you with a clear understanding of what is expected of you during the course of your healthcare jobs and while working through Hays Healthcare.

Permanent healthcare jobs

If you’re looking for a permanent role then keeping your skills sharp in a temporary role (even if not directly relevant to the type of permanent position you want) will make you more attractive to prospective employers. Experience shows that individuals in temporary healthcare jobs have a significantly higher chance of being asked to attend interview than those biding their time outside the working environment.
